René, ein langjähriger guter Freund und Genosse ist tot. Nach schwerer Krankheit ist er am 15.08. 2024 friedlich eingeschlafen.
Die Beisetzung findet am Dienstag, den 24.9.2024 um 11 Uhr auf dem St. ThomasFriedhof, Hermannstraße 180 statt. Anschließend laufen wir mit einem Demonstrationszug zur “Vierten Welt” am Kottbusser Tor (Adalbertstr. 96), für eine gemeinsame Erinnerungs und Abschiedsfeier.
Die Berliner linke Szene verliert einen Aktivisten, der im Kampf gegen Faschismus, Krieg und für Internationalismus bis zuletzt aktiv war.
Uns war er ein guter und vertrauter Freund. Mit ihm zusammen haben wir das so36.net gegründet und aufgebaut.
René hat sehr früh erkannt, welche Gefahren - aber vor allem auch welche emanzipativen Möglichkeiten, in der damals neu aufkommenden ICT steckten. Sein organisatorisches und technisches Engagement war enorm wertvoll für den Aufbau einer linken, selbst verwalteten und vor allem sicheren Informations-Infrastruktur. Sein Einsatz war aber vor allem auch immer verbunden mit einer konkreten politischen Arbeit. Vor Ort in Kreuzberg & Berlin, bundesweit und international. So waren wir zum Beispiel gemeinsam protestieren im Wendland, aktiv auf überregionalen Camps oder im Rahmen der G8 Proteste in Heiligendamm und bei anderen Gipfeln.
Seine Erfahrung und sein technisches know-how hat René dabei enthusiastisch mit anderen geteilt. Er konnte ebenso leidenschaftlich über Politik wie über Software diskutieren. Er war eine treibende Kraft hinter gemeinsamen Bildungs-Projekten, zur Vermittlung von Hintergrundwissen, aber auch zur ganz praktischen Weitergabe von Medien- und IT-Fähigkeiten.
Bis zuletzt war er linker Aktivist - das Bild stammt vom Januar 2024.
René wurde nur 55 Jahre alt. Er wird uns sehr fehlen.

René, a good friend and comrade for many years, has died. After a time of serious illness, he passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, 24.9.2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Cemetery, Hermannstraße 180. Afterwards, we will walk with a demonstration to the “Vierte Welt” at Kottbusser Tor (Adalbertstr. 96) for a joint commemoration and farewell ceremony.
The Berlin left-wing scene has lost an activist who was active in the fight against fascism, war and for internationalism until the very end.
To us he was a good and trusted friend. Together with him, we founded and developed so36.net.
René recognized very early on the dangers - but above all the emancipatory potential - of the then newly emerging ICT. His organizational and technical commitment was enormously valuable for the development of a left-wing, self-managed and, above all, a secure information infrastructure. Above all, however, his commitment was always linked to concrete political work. Locally in Kreuzberg & Berlin, nationwide and internationally. For example, we protested together in Wendland, were active at international camps or as part of the G8 protests in Heiligendamm and at other summits.
René enthusiastically shared his experience and technical know-how with others. He would discuss politics as passionately as he would discuss software. He was a driving force behind joint educational projects, providing background knowledge as well as practical media- and IT-skills.
He was a left-wing activist until the end - the picture was taken in January 2024.
René only lived to the age of 55. We will miss him very much.
